Pick the credit tool that fits the job.

There are several good ways to get consumer credit data into a business. They're built for different jobs. This page lays out the categories so you can see where CreditPullEngine fits and where something else might fit better.

We describe categories, not specific companies.

The categories

Three common alternatives.

Teams that need consumer credit data usually look at a few kinds of tools. Each is a reasonable choice for the job it was built for.

  • Bureau or reseller portal: a web interface for ordering and viewing consumer reports, often designed for individual lookups by trained staff.
  • Generic credit-data API: an API that returns credit data for your own software to process, suited to teams that want to build the experience themselves.
  • Loan-prequalification tools: products focused on matching consumers with lending offers or prequalification results.

Choosing

When each option makes sense.

  • CreditPullEngine

Your team talks to consumers about their credit.

Debt relief, legal intake and home services teams that need the report readable in a minute and visible to the consumer during the call.

  • Bureau or reseller portal

    You need occasional lookups.

If a few trained staff order reports now and then and no consumer is on the line, a portal may be all you need.

  • Generic credit API

You're building the whole experience yourself.

If your engineers want raw data and plan to design every screen, a generic API can fit. Our Soft Pull API also serves builders who want a sandbox and normalized JSON.

  • Loan-prequalification tools

Your goal is matching consumers to lenders.

If the job is offer matching, a prequalification product built for lending may fit. CreditPullEngine provides reports and analysis, not lending decisions.

Comparison questions.

Which bureau does CreditPullEngine use?

CreditPullEngine is an Authorized Equifax Reseller.

Can we use CreditPullEngine only through the API?

Yes. You can pull from the dashboard, the API or your CRM. The API uses form-encoded POSTs with an API key, and there's a sandbox to build against.

Does CreditPullEngine make lending decisions?

No. We provide reports and analysis. Lending decisions belong to your lending or financing partner.

Why don't you name other companies?

Products change often. We describe categories so the comparison stays fair and accurate. Check the details with any vendor you consider.
